April 17, 2025 — In May, Star Wine List will celebrate the best wine lists across Asia for the fourth time, and the expert judging panel has just announced the 66 wine bars and restaurants competing for Gold Stars.

A total of 66 venues in 15 locations, across Greater China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam have been named as finalists in Star Wine List of the Year Asia 2025. The winners will be announced online, on 1 May.
With particularly strong representation in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Seoul, there was a promising number of entries in the Best Newcomer List category in particular, which focuses on venues that have opened within the past year – a sign of the region’s increasingly dynamic wine scene.
“We are so impressed by the quality across wine lists in these Asian countries,” says Krister Bengtsson, Founder and Publisher of Star Wine List. “Residents and travellers alike are spoiled for choice and the judges are having a tough job – congratulations to all the finalists!”
The Star Wine List of the Year competition recognises the greatest wine lists in the world – and the teams behind them. It is free to enter for all restaurants and wine bars in each specified region, with winners receiving a Gold Star listing on the Star Wine List website and app. In Asia, prizes will be awarded in 11 categories, which include local awards for the best Italian and Spanish wine selections across Asia. Winners in the international categories will also qualify for the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, to be held in Vienna on 16 June 2025.
The jury panel for Star Wine List of the Year Asia 2025 includes four top sommeliers:
- Salvatore Castano – Best Sommelier of Europe and Africa 2021
- Stefan Neumann – Master Sommelier
- Stephen Wong – Master of Wine
- Reeze Choi – Third-Best Sommelier of the World 2023 (ASI)
